less of me, more of you

less of me
Less selfishness
Less idols
Less pride
Less self-indulgence
MORE OF YOU GOD
More godliness
More surrender to God
More in love with God
More hunger for God
Often times we fill our thoughts, time, and attention on things that fulfill us only temporarily. We find ourselves turning to people for the answers or to things to make us happy instead of God who is the author of all peace. Fasting is breaking the habit of hungering after the things that feed our bodies and hungering after the things of God. Fasting is deciding to abstain from food and instead, find sustenance in the presence of God. Fasting is deciding to not watch the news but instead meditate on the good news of the gospel. Fasting is making a decision to not spend hours on social media for acceptance but instead, seek a personal relationship with God.
The spiritual practice of fasting is not only making a decision to “less of you” but is partnered with spending time with God in prayer.
